The late Mr Bert Donehue
and his daughter Mrs Shirley Foster purchased their first
Jack Russell in 1978, as they were having a lot of
trouble with foxes killing the new born lambs.
They were always involved with dogs including
working and judging with the Victorian Working Sheep
Dog Association.
Because of this Bert Donehue knew Noel Wettenhall
(Koonda Kennels), therefore they purchased their first
Jack Russell from him.
Their first bitch Haven Park Trixie JR1277 and a dog
Haven Park Jack JR1464, from Max Power Foxmans Kennels, formed their
hunting pair and the basis of the "Haven Park"
Kennels.
Later they purchased Koonda Sally JR2462 and Koonda
Scruffy JR1719 and their hunting and breeding lines
grew from this.
Pups were sold to every state in Australia and New
Zealand.

Haven Park Swaggie,
Haven Park Fredrick,
Haven Park Kiwi Jack,
Haven Park Nutty,
Haven Park Candytuft.
Unfortunately for the breed Haven Park has done very little breeding in the
last few years. |

AUCH Haven Park Victor was
born 30 May 1985. He
won Best In Show at the first ever
JRTCNSW just after recognition of the JRT. He was
later campaigned by Robyn Handley and Dennis
Cartwright of Kelston Kennels
and he lived
out his life with them at Kelston.
Victor lives on through many of his
offspring particularly through Patchilla Mitzy who
was the mother of AUCH Rosetta Radiance. Therefore
he is in many of the Rosetta pedigrees.
He is also in
most of the Walampton and Kelston pedigrees. |

This photo was taken in
1984 and shows Bert Donahue after a fox hunt.
The dogs were Haven Park Jack, Haven Park Ruff,
Koonda Scruffy and Haven Park Nutty. Nutty can be
found in a lot of pedigrees, she was a top bitch
and
she is still in most of Haven Park lines. These
were the Haven Park foundation Jacks.
The fox was being held up as the dogs would have
ripped into it and it was in the days when skins
were worth $40.00.
Hunting at that time was a necessity to protect
the lambing ewes. |
